Program & KindergartenBentleigh Early Child Education Co-operative (BECEC) promotes and is committed to the philosophy of learning and teaching through play. This is explored in a deeper way throughout the Kindergarten program as we endeavour to create warm, natural, open ended and inviting areas and experiences. This enables us to promote a home like environment that encourages children to learn, grow and develop in their own way.
We have found that these aesthetically pleasing environments promote and stimulate each child’s natural curiosity and allow us to promote learning in a very open and natural manner. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) is used as a guide to further enhance our program and to explain and document to families the skills, processes and knowledge that each child has been developing during their time with us at the centre. We focus on a holistic approach using each child’s interests and skills, building on what the child can do with confidence, while adding to knowledge the child has already gathered. As Educators we search for small, regular opportunities in each day to promote, incorporate and extend on ideas about: - identity - well-being in body, mind and spirit - belonging to a vibrant community - becoming involved learners - being good communicators We promote an integrated learning experience, where pre-numeracy and pre-literacy skills are gained through intentional teaching, which will establish strong foundations for the more formal years of schooling ahead. Through our program we actively engage families in their child’s learning journey. We encourage this by promoting a comfortable, harmonious environment for every member of the family to be involved. This promotes an environment for real and trustworthy relationships to form between Educators and families, which help facilitate open communication. |
